During the visit of a delegation of East Azerbaijan province of Islamic Republic of Iran, Azerbaijan-Iran business meeting was organized by Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO), with a support of the Ministry of Economy on February 25.
More than 50 Azerbaijani and Iranian businessmen operating in mining, food industry, chemistry, light industry, construction and furniture production attended the business meeting.
Deputy Minister of Economy Sahil Babayev pointed out the development of political and economic ties between Azerbaijan and Iran, and emphasized the importance of mutual visits of heads of state in expanding cooperation. It was noted that the discussions held and the documents signed within the framework of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran in these days was of great importance to the development of cooperation between the two countries.
Working groups in various fields between Azerbaijan and Iran are operating, joint business forums, meetings and exhibitions are organized. Iran is one of the main trade partners of Azerbaijan. However, there are great opportunities for expansion of relations between the two countries in various sectors of the economy. Today's business meeting will contribute to the development of cooperation, as well as enhancing trade relations between the two countries. Mr. Sahil Babayev invited Iranian businessmen to active cooperation with Azerbaijani counterparts.
Iranian businessmen were informed on favorable business and investment climate, state support mechanisms for entrepreneurs, favorable conditions for foreign investors in Azerbaijan.
The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohsen Pakayin noted that cooperation continued successfully in the economic field between the two countries, as in other areas.
Noting the relations between the two countries entered a new stage of development, the ambassador pointed out that high-level mutual visits, meetings gave an impetus to the development of the Azerbaijani-Iranian relations.
The business meeting continued with bilateral meetings.
