The Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Business Council has been established to further expand economic and investment ties between Azerbaijan and Ukraine and cooperation between businessmen. The Council, created on the initiative of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, includes more than 70 businessmen and representatives of state agencies engaged in various sectors of the economy.
The Agreement on the establishment of the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Business Council was signed and the first meeting was held in Baku on June 24. The Agreement on the establishment of the Business Council was signed by the chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency Orkhan Mammadov and the president of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Gennady Chizhikov.
The meeting arranged by the SMBDA was attended by representatives of government agencies and businessmen from the two countries.
Speaking at the meeting, the chairman of the SMBDA Board Orkhan Mammadov noted that the Ukrainian-Azerbaijan Business Council was created to continue a fruitful dialogue between the business circles of our countries and further develop mutually beneficial economic collaboration. “We believe that the number of members represented in the Council will increase, which will positively affect the trade relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine. SMBDA will provide the necessary assistance within the framework of its support and services to the businessmen represented here in the development of a new cooperation platform”.
President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Gennady Chizhikov has noted that cooperation platforms such as the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Business Council are a favorable basis for fruitful discussions between businessmen and the implementation of new mechanisms for expanding trade and economic collaboration.
Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Azerbaijan Vladislav Kanevsky stressed the successful development of relations between the two countries in various fields, including economy, and noted that the establishment of the Business Council would be of great importance for identifying new areas of cooperation and expanding bilateral collaboration in trade, investment, and other areas.
President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) of Azerbaijan Mammad Musayev, acting president of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) Yusif Abdullayev, and director-general of the Trade House Ukraine Alibala Maharramzada noted that the Business Council would make a positive contribution to the development of existing ties between the business circles of two countries.
As part of the event, a Memorandum of cooperation between AZPROMO and the Council of Exporters and Investors under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and an agreement for cooperation between the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Poltava were also signed.
The Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Business Council will be chaired by the director of Baku Business Group LLC Anar Guliyev on the Azerbaijani side and the founder of the Bratslav group of companies Pyotr Mikhailenko on the Ukrainian side.
The meeting continued with bilateral meetings of businessmen.
