Export of our country's excise goods to Russia simplified

As is known, the absence of a special customs checkpoint for excise goods on the Azerbaijan-Russian border acted as a bottleneck for the expansion of wine and spirits exports to the Russian Federation considered one of the traditional markets for Azerbaijani products. This led to higher prices for exported products, loss of time, and decreased competitiveness.

Taking this into account, the issue of establishing an excise goods checkpoint was raised from time to time during the meetings held between the relevant institutions of Azerbaijan and Russia with efforts made to speed up this process through various platforms.

As a result of the work done and under a relevant decision of the Government of the Russian Federation, an excise goods BCP started operating on October 7 at the Yarag-Hazmalar International Automobile Customs Checkpoint. This will provide entrepreneurs with additional opportunities to expand exports of excisable goods, especially wines and spirits.
