Azerbaijan participates in OIC Business Forum

The forum discussed issues related to trade policy, financial infrastructure and the application of innovation in business.

The 5th OIC Business Forum "Small and medium-sized business - a driver of economic development and progress in the countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation (OIC)" was held in Tashkent under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan. A delegation of 20 companies working in the fields of construction, industry, pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, tourism, agriculture, logistics, etc. represented Azerbaijan at the event.

Speaking at the event, Head of the Export and Investment Promotion Agency - AZPROMO Yusif Abdullayev noted that Azerbaijan is actively implementing the policy of business and investment promotion with OIC countries, and this, in turn, contributes to the development of regional cooperation. It was noted that efforts aimed at increasing trade volumes with the member countries of the organization have a positive impact on trade turnover, including exports. Azerbaijan has established strong investment relations with OIC countries, mutual investment projects are underway, and the process of establishing joint investment funds has started. Already operating are the Azerbaijani-Uzbek Investment Fund and the Azerbaijani-Kyrgyz Development Fund.

Officials from the Government of Uzbekistan and the OIC and heads of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Turkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Iran also spoke at the event. Moreover, B2B meetings between entrepreneurs were organized within the framework of the business forum.

In addition, AZPROMO head Yusif Abdullayev and Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Davron Vahabov met in Tashkent. The parties discussed further practical steps to be taken within the framework of the Road Map, holding the Interregional Forum, and exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations.
