Discussions were held on the future actions and measures to be taken for the activation of investment and trade relations with Jordan.

A meeting was held at the Export and Investment Promotion Agency - AZPROMO with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Republic of Azerbaijan Omar Barakat Al-Nahar.

AZPROMO Executive Director Yusif Abdullayev said that the business visit of the agency's representatives to Jordan is planned to ensure effective utilization of the potential of trade and economic relations between the countries and to explore trade and investment opportunities offered by Jordan. It was noted that the exchange of information and establishment of direct contacts during the visit will create a solid basis for the effective work of the 4th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Technical Cooperation, which is expected to take place in May this year.

Ambassador Omar Barakat Al Nahar noted the need to resume the agreements regulating bilateral economic relations between the two countries and spoke about the opportunities opened by investment and trade activities in Jordan. It was emphasized that Jordan, which has free trade agreements with the European Union, the USA, and Canada, offers wide opportunities for Azerbaijani entrepreneurs to establish joint ventures in the country and subsequently export their products to the above-mentioned markets. The prospects for Jordanian entrepreneurs to enter the CIS markets using the existing favorable bilateral trade legislation of Azerbaijan with neighboring countries were also noted.

During the meeting, the proposals to hold a joint business forum within the framework of the 4th session of the Intergovernmental Commission and the implementation of direct flights to intensify bilateral business ties were positively evaluated.
