During the meetings, views were exchanged on the development of trade and investment relations with Spain, and issues of mutual interest were discussed.

During a business trip to the Kingdom of Spain, the delegation of the Export and Investment Promotion Agency - AZPROMO held meetings with several local structures.

Meeting with Spanish entrepreneurs

A meeting with representatives of Spanish companies was held under the joint organisation of AZPROMO and Madrid Business Forum. The main purpose of the event was to inform Spanish companies about business and investment opportunities in Azerbaijan.

Yusif Abdullayev, Executive Director of AZPROMO, provided information about the Agency and stressed that such meetings create a solid basis to deepen cooperation between the countries in the field of trade and investment. It was noted that to increase our country's non-oil exports to Spain, it is necessary to expand relations between business circles, and AZPROMO is taking active measures to this end.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Spain Ramiz Hasanov said that relations between the two countries are developing in an upward trend and stressed the existence of great potential for strengthening trade and economic links. The ambassador also said that more than 30 Spanish companies are currently working in Azerbaijan in such fields as oil and gas, construction, and agriculture.

During the event, presentations were made on Azerbaijan's business, investment, and tourism opportunities, and entrepreneurs had their questions answered.

Meeting with COFIDES

During the meeting with COFIDES, a Spanish public company specialising in the financing of private investments, information was provided on the activities of AZPROMO and the investment potential of our country, including in the territories liberated from occupation.

The representatives of COFIDES presented the company they represent and exchanged views with AZPROMO on the implementation of projects of mutual benefit.

Referring to COP 29, the participants of the meeting stressed the role of this event as an important platform for cooperation.

Meeting with ICEX

At the meeting with ICEX, which is considered to be the main body responsible for the internationalisation of Spanish companies, Yusif Abdullayev, Executive Director of AZPROMO, spoke about the main objectives of the Business Ambassador in Spain - to create investment partnerships with Spanish companies and to explore export opportunities. It was noted that it is important to identify priority sectors to expand the participation of Spanish companies in Azerbaijan and their involvement in projects implemented in our territories liberated from occupation. It was agreed at the meeting that the organisations would exchange information on this issue.

Elisa Carbonel, Director General of the ICEX public agency, noted that they are ready to support the strengthening of relations and coordination between entrepreneurs of the two countries. It was noted that leading Spanish companies working in the fields of infrastructure, transport, "smart" settlements and cities, energy, and cybersecurity have wide prospects for participation in investment projects in Azerbaijan.

Meeting at the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business

During the meeting, Director General of the Department of International Trade and Investment of the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Alicia Varela said that her country is interested in developing trade and economic relations with Azerbaijan and the organisation she represents is ready to provide necessary support in this field.

Yusif Abdullayev, Executive Director of AZPROMO, drew attention to the prospects of increasing Azerbaijan's non-oil exports to Spain. It was noted that Azerbaijan's positive business environment and large investment potential create favourable conditions for Spanish companies to establish joint ventures in our country. This, in turn, can play an important role in supporting the development of trade relations.

The opening of the Spanish Embassy in Azerbaijan was also highlighted at the meeting as a way of activating bilateral relations.
