The event discussed the issues of eliminating non-tariff barriers identified during trade operations.
Jointly organized by the Export and Investment Promotion Agency - AZPROMO and the International Trade Centre (ITC), a two-day event entitled "Stakeholder Consultation on Non-Tariff Barriers to Trade and Trade in Services Regulations" was held in Baku. During the event, participants were presented with the results of a business survey initiated by the European Union (EU), ITC, and EU4Business to identify non-tariff trade barriers in Azerbaijan within the framework of the Trade Help Desk project of the Eastern Partnership, participating in interactive roundtable discussions to address the identified barriers.
Speaking at the event, AZPROMO Deputy Executive Director Tural Hadjili noted the importance of the project in terms of export support and emphasized that the platform will make an important contribution to finding solutions to major issues faced by our potential exporters that export their products to EU countries. It was noted that intensive work is underway to remove existing barriers. In this context, information was provided on the planned launching of the electronic platform madeinazerbaijan.gov.az to provide better services to exporters and the prospects of simplifying trade procedures for local entrepreneurs within the framework of the pending National Export Strategy.
UN Resident Coordinator Vladanka Andreeva emphasized the importance of eliminating identified trade barriers and exploring untapped opportunities, and highly appreciated the aforementioned project. The first roundtable held during the event discussed the simplification of domestic trade rules and optimization of trade procedures. The second roundtable focused on discussing the improvement of technical requirements, quality standards, and compliance with assessments.
