Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum held

Ways of strengthening investment partnerships and implementing new joint projects were discussed at the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum in Tashkent.

The Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum was held in Tashkent with the support of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, the Export and Investment Promotion Agency - AZPROMO and the organisational support of the Agency for Attraction of Foreign Investments of Uzbekistan. In addition to officials from both countries, the event was attended by 300 entrepreneurs from construction, industry, agriculture, automotive, transport logistics, healthcare, tourism, and other sectors.

Minister of Economy Mikail Jabbarov and Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov addressed the business forum.

It was emphasised that special importance is attached to the development of cooperation between the two countries. The official visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan will serve as an impetus for strengthening the partnership between the two countries. The important role of joint business events in identifying new projects and areas of cooperation, as well as the successful implementation of initiatives in this area, was noted. Mutual economic and trade relations between the two countries are also developing. Trade turnover between our countries is growing dynamically. Investment interaction with Uzbekistan is multilateral. The joint roadmap on further deepening of trade, economic, and investment cooperation for 2024-2025 envisages the implementation of projects in such sectors as agriculture, tourism, construction, pharmaceuticals, and the automotive industry. In this context, the role of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Company with an authorised capital of USD 500 million was highlighted. It was noted that the company is currently analysing the possibility of financing 15 joint projects. Entrepreneurs were invited to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Investment Company.

The successful joint activities of our countries in the framework of regional transport and energy initiatives were also discussed. The importance of exporting "green" energy from Central Asia to Europe through the territory of Azerbaijan was noted.

At the Forum, information was presented on the favourable business and investment environment created for investors in Azerbaijan and the opportunities offered by the economic regions of Garabagh and East Zangezur.

During the event, AZPROMO Executive Director Yusif Abdullayev, Businesstex CEO Nodir Pulatov, Iticket Azerbaijan CEO Kyamran Abasov and Bazalt Uzbekistan Group of Companies Commercial Director Temur Mamadaminov discussed joint projects being implemented and investment prospects of our countries, Nazim Hajiyev, CEO of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Company, spoke about mutual investment opportunities, and Kyanan Jalilov, Honorary Consul of Uzbekistan in Azerbaijan, reported on the expansion of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

A video dedicated to Azerbaijani-Uzbek relations was shown at the forum.

At the business forum, signed documents were exchanged on cooperation in the fields of energy, education, logistics, construction, expansion of cooperation between Baku and Tashkent, as well as the establishment of twinning relations between the cities of Guba and Zhdizak, Shakhrisabz and Beylagan.
