As part of COP29, the Business, Investment, and Philanthropy Climate Platform hosted discussions on effective financial solutions and business strategies to combat climate change.
The platform was organized by the COP29 Presidency, the High-Level Climate Champion for COP29, the Ministry of Economy, and the Export and Investment Promotion Agency – AZPROMO, in collaboration with international organizations. Over 1,000 participants from 71 countries registered for the event.
The event featured speeches by Mukhtar Babayev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources and President of COP29, and Samad Bashirli, Deputy Minister of Economy. They emphasized the importance of global initiatives to promote economic growth and strengthen climate resilience, highlighting Azerbaijan's significant role in these efforts. Discussions focused on channeling revenues from hydrocarbon resources into climate action and advancing green energy projects to support the decarbonization of the national economy.
Partner organizations exchanged ideas on financial and investment strategies to help developing countries meet the goals of the Paris Agreement. Topics included attracting capital to climate-resilient solutions and accelerating the decarbonization of industrial sectors through key mechanisms.
The event featured nine sessions, which addressed innovative financial solutions, decarbonization, promoting financial flows to developing countries, sustainable development commitments by international companies, enhancing public-private partnerships to accelerate inclusive climate action, and fostering new partnerships to support the Sustainable Development Goals.
