Discussions at the event focused on promoting mutual investments between the two countries, opportunities for production localization, and building new partnerships.
As part of the 25th China International Investment and Trade Fair (CIFIT 2025), held in Xiamen, Fujian Province, China, a China–Azerbaijan Bilateral Investment Promotion Event was organized jointly with the support of the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Commerce of Azerbaijan and China, by the Office of the Trade Representative of Azerbaijan in China and the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan – AZPROMO. In addition to officials from both sides, the event brought together around 100 entrepreneurs operating in industry, energy, transport and logistics, agriculture, ICT, and other sectors.
In his remarks at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev stated that Azerbaijan–China relations have entered a new stage, and that establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries has given a strong impetus to trade and investment cooperation. He linked the sustainability of this positive trend to the countries’ active and joint participation in the Belt and Road Initiative.
Ling Ji, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce of China, highlighted that China’s economic ties with Azerbaijan are developing on an upward trajectory, noting that Chinese companies maintain close cooperation with Azerbaijan in the fields of trade, logistics, industry, and green energy. He also spoke about the growing indicators of bilateral trade and investment relations in recent years.
Elnur Aliyev, First Deputy Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, noted that China is one of Azerbaijan’s key trading partners and emphasized that investment relations are developing in practical terms. Information was provided on the successful implementation of joint initiatives in industrial production, renewable energy, agriculture, and ICT, as well as upcoming projects aimed at production localization and technology transfer.
Elnur Soltanov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, stated that combining Azerbaijan’s solar and wind energy potential with China’s advanced technologies creates favorable conditions for the successful implementation of joint projects, and that cooperation on the energy transition is expected to expand further in the future.
The event also featured speeches and presentations on the investment climate of both countries, the implementation of mutually beneficial investment initiatives, and trade promotion by Yusif Abdullayev, Executive Director of AZPROMO; Bahruz Bahramov, Deputy Executive Director of the State Oil Fund; Ismayil Manafov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Authorized Body of the Alat Free Economic Zone; Liu Mingqian, Director of the China Investment Promotion Agency; and Zhang Shuo, Director of the Direct Investment Department of China Investment Corporation.
In addition, during the panel session held within the framework of the event, representatives of the Azerbaijan Investment Holding, the Economic Zones Development Agency, China’s Khorgos Economic Development Zone, and companies operating in sectors such as industry and ICT from both countries shared their views and put forward proposals on strengthening bilateral business engagement. The event continued with B2B meetings.
