Iran-Azerbaijan Business Forum

Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO), with support of the Ministry of Agriculture, organized a business meeting where more than 250 entrepreneurs from Azerbaijan and Iran came together to discuss potentials for cooperation in agriculture and food industry.
Addressing the forum, the Minister Haydar Asadov noted that bilateral politico-economic and humanitarian relations develop rapidly between these two countries. The forum gathers together representatives from more than 80 companies, which is a solid indicator of an increasing interest in agrarian sector. In recent years, there have been signed 5 documents between governmental bodies of Iran and Azerbaijan that constitute a legal basis for the development of agrarian relations.
The Minister stated: “Both Azerbaijan and Iran are ready to support each other in the development of cattle-breeding, seed development, artificial insemination, exchange of personnel and share experiences in scientific research methods.”
His Iranian counterpart, Mahmud Hojjati, mentioned that there is a huge potential to develop relations in the agricultural sector with Azerbaijan. He followed to say that relations between Iran and Azerbaijan are expanding on a day-by-day basis, and our political closeness is highly valued.
“Last year, we exported up to 112 million tons of agricultural products. These products are poultry, fruits and vegetables, seafood and dairy products. We are interested in import of the Azerbaijani products as well. Meantime, we can initiate and sell our co-productions to other countries. This kind of interstate relations will produce positive results in near future,” said the Minister.
He added that they have applied new technologies in the field of animal husbandry and have had significant achievements so far and are ready to cooperate in knowledge transfer and exchange.
Following these, the president of Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO), Rufat Mammadov, came out to present Azerbaijan’s investment climate and business opportunities to the guests and emphasized that we were also ready to transfer our experiences.
The Business Forum continued with B2B meetings among businessmen on the opportunities for further cooperation.
