Tashkent hosted an Uzbek-Azerbaijani business forum organized by the Export and Investment Promotion Agency - AZPROMO and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan with the support of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan. The event was attended by officials from both sides as well as entrepreneurs working in construction, industry, agriculture, and other sectors.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the business forum, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov said that trade and economic relations between the two countries develop at a high pace with great potential to expand cooperation. Sardor Umurzakov noted that Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan can expand cooperation and establish joint processing enterprises to supply their products to third countries. Speaking about the importance of the business forum, the minister said the event was a good platform to identify new initiatives and directions, stressing that the discussions were useful for expanding business ties.
Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov told about the high level of relations and the development of economic cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of mutual official visits of the heads of states and holding negotiations to develop bilateral cooperation. The Minister of Economy informed about existing opportunities to strengthen partnerships in the industry, agriculture, trade, investment, and other areas, inviting Uzbek entrepreneurs to take advantage of the favorable business climate created in Azerbaijan for the implementation of joint projects.
Head of AZPROMO Yusif Abdullayev, chairman of Small and Medium Business Development Agency Orhan Mammadov, chairman of Economic Zones Development Agency Elshad Nuriyev, chairman of Uzkimyosanoat Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, chairman of Uzeltekhsanoat Association Mirziyod Yunusov, chairman of Uztextilprom Association Ilham Haidarov and chairman of Azerbaijan Jewelers Association Togrul Abbasguliyev discussed the expansion of ties in relevant economic fields and informed about the export and investment potential of the two countries.
The relevant agencies of the two countries signed several documents during the business forum.
The event went on in the format of bilateral meetings held between business representatives of the two countries.
