More than 170 companies from both countries representing the fields of energy, agriculture, food industry, ICT, finance, tourism, and pharmaceuticals took part in the Tajik-Azerbaijani investment forum held in Dushanbe. The relevant structures of the two countries signed memoranda of understanding at the forum.
Speaking at the Investment Forum jointly organized by the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan – AZPROMO and the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan, Saadi Kodirzoda, Chairman of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management, informed about bilateral trade and economic cooperation and noted the importance of holding events engaging business entities to establish closer cooperation between the two countries.
Deputy Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Sahib Mammadov emphasized that relations between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan have deep historical and cultural roots. It was noted that various formats of meetings held between the two countries' heads and the friendly relations between our peoples form the basis of bilateral cooperation. Stressing that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of bilateral economic ties with Tajikistan, Sahib Mammadov said: "Expansion of bilateral cooperation in industry, trade, agriculture, and other areas is one of the main vectors of bilateral relations. Azerbaijan's favorable investment climate opens up new opportunities and broad horizons for the implementation of this potential. Especially important is the activity of the private sector in the implementation of joint initiatives."
Attending the Forum, head of AZPROMO Yusif Abdullayev, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan Jumakhonzoda Jamshed, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) Rufat Atakishiyev, Deputy Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan Aziz Nazar, Deputy Chairman of the Economic Zones Development Agency Fuad Magerramov, Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Manuchehr Safarzoda, Deputy Chairman of the Alat Free Economic Zone Ismail Manafov, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Tajikistan Kamoliddinzod Bahodur, and Advisor to the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan Kanan Guluzade talked about expanding cooperation in relevant areas of the economy, the investment potential of both countries, business, and the investment climate. The forum included presentations on the investment potential of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan and projects under implementation.
During the event, the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan signed an agreement. Also, memoranda were signed between the Public Association for Development of Women Entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan and the National Association of Business Women of Tajikistan, between Azerbaijan International Mining Company and Tajik Talco Management Company as well as between AzərTürk Bank and Amonatbonk. The forum continued its activity by holding B2B meetings.
As part of the visit, Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Mammadov met with Tajikistan's Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Ahliddin Nuriddinzoda. The meeting participants discussed the trends affecting bilateral economic relations. The parties noted the importance of effective use of available resources and opportunities and exchanged views on determining the main directions of trade and economic cooperation.
